I’m sure a lot of us in Nigeria, have been seeing plantain both ripe and unripe everywhere and cheap, well it’s in season and I’m sure the #DodoNation must be in full gear of celebration. As your food enthusiast, I’m here to help you with ways you can use this affordable food to your stomachtifaction (don’t google this, it doesn’t exist; stomach-satisfaction). Even if plantain isn’t one of your favorite things to eat, you can try out one of these yummy and creative ways and you will get to love it. So,here we go;
5 YUMMY THINGS YOU CAN DO WITH PLANTAIN APART FROM FRYING IT.
1. Plantain Empanadas:
Don’t be discouraged by the big name, its very easy, sweet and worth it all. What I love about it is the fact that you don’t need flour or any baking ingredients, its easy and you can add just about anything you want for the filling! How awesome is that! Get all of the details here
2. Mosa/Plantain Fritters:
My love for this though! I can already feel it on my tongue as I’m typing this. When you think puff-puff or pancake this season, think Mosa, which is done with blended ripe plantain and can be made in pancake as well, only differs in size. Collins showed how to make it here
3. Plantain Porridge:
This is similar to yam porridge, but plantain is used in it stead and can be made with slightly unripe and not-so-ripe plantains.
4. Plantain Moi-Moi:
At first when I heard this, I was shocked but seeing how Dobby did It , I can’t wait to try it! Almost like the normal moi-moi but you add blended plantain and some other things to it.
5. Roasted Plantain (aka Boli):
My fellow Nigerians love this, especially Port-harcourt people, as I heard theirs is the best with the roadside sauce and spicy fish which can’t be found anywhere else. Well, I’m going to get myself the Lagos one this weekend, what about you? Just in case you want to make yours at home, I got you
Also, Fried Plantain (aka Dodo), I couldn’t resist adding this because I can already see the #DodoNation coming for me and also maybe because I took this shot Lol.
So, which of these are you going to prepare this weekend? And which is your best? What other things do you do with plantain? Do share with me.
